Sept 8th - UPDATE: Just came back from 5 days riding with Kiwi in the mountains - she did great! She has also been riden a few times now this year on the road. She still needs the "buttons" but ready to take you out into the hills!
Kiwi is a very sweet mare that loves to be cuddled and groomed. She has come a long way with
minimal work in the 2 years I have owned her. From not having the ability to halter / lead at 5 years old to where she is today.
Kiwi had 90 days of Parelli training last summer and spent a total of 15 days in the mountains
between the Ya Ha Tinda and Sandy McNabb. She is able to carry any size person all day long
without tiring (climbing / flat / regardless!).
She has been leased for the last few months, however really not had much work done with her
since we stopped her training last October will require a refresher. If you are patient with her, and give her the love and respect she deserves she will bond with you like no other. She has the makings of being a very best friend!
What is left in her training is the basic buttons and hours in the saddle she does not move of
leg very well, neck raining was doing ok in Oct but not sure what it is like now. That I know of, she has only been ridden at a walk since last year.
I would love to see this Appy mare go to someone that would give her a job (preferably ranch
work / mountains) however I am told by others with the right training she would make a great
4H Horse.
Finally Kiwi is UTD on everything. Farrier / Wormer / Teeth / Shots (strangles / 5-way /
west-nile). She has a very solid build (but could use to lose some pounds) and extremely healthy never been lame, foundered, or any major injuries.
